Riley Matulewic is a junior at St. Gregory College Preparatory School. She began attending St. Gregory as a freshman in high school. Her younger sister, Remy, started school at St. Gregory in 6th grade and Riley decided that she wanted to have the same wonderful opportunity as her sister.

Riley’s mother is a widow who is raising three children on her own. Riley 11th grade, Remy 9th grade, and Corbin 7th grade are all students at St. Gregory College Preparatory School.

“I believe that St. Gregory is a wonderful learning opportunity for me. Here, I have the chance to take science classes that I wouldn’t be able to take at any other school. The English and history teachers have helped me to improve my writing skills tremendously. Before I got to St. Gregory, I didn’t write at all. I am currently working on my Junior Critical Paper which is a 20 page research paper for my English class. I know that this preparation in writing and in the sciences is going to help me tremendously in College.”

“At St. Gregory, I also have the opportunity to be involved in many extracurricular activities. I am the Vice President of the Student Council and I perform in the school theater productions. Athletics are also very important to me. This year I played on the volleyball, soccer, and softball teams. All of these activities help me to learn about collaboration and working as a team.”

Riley has a 3.94 GPA and hopes to attend Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. She hopes to study chemistry, “I would really like to be a pharmacist”.

“I wouldn’t be at St. Gregory if it weren’t for the contributors such as the Arizona Leadership Foundation.”
